Consequences

Written by Rocky Sanders

The second hand ticks down the years,
Hammers pounding wooden frames,
Of skeletons beneath the soul,
Lies and truths collide in pain.
Fires rush in blazing winds,
Heat of cries unheard burn through,
Emptiness, a pit below,
Dreading tears that tell the truth.

Unrecognized, blindfold the heart,
Bury pains to soothe the soul.
Cover up with blanket white,
But underneath, death still holds.

Time to see, time to face,
Reality beckons wounded heart.
Chained for years, links untold,
Dreams unblemished torn apart.
Boiling rage produces fear,
Of seeking vengeance oft desired,
Subsiding fires result in smoke,
Leaving weary, a heart grown tired.

Unrecognized, blindfold the heart,
Bury pains to soothe the soul.
Cover up with blanket white,
But underneath, death still holds.

Lies held back but told within,
Truths snuffed out to ride the wind.
Innocence exists no more,
Tears rain hot to scorch the scars.

Unrecognized, blindfold the heart,
Bury pains to soothe the soul.
Cover up with blanket white,
But underneath, death still holds.
